R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A 100th birthday is truly cause for celebration, and
on August 23, 2003, Callie Bailey of Grand Saline marked this
significant milestone in her life among her family and friends; and
WHEREAS, A native of Edgewood, in Van Zandt County, she was
the oldest of her family's 10 children; today, she and her youngest
brother, Billy Paul Barker, both reside in Grand Saline; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Bailey is blessed with the love and affection
of a close-knit circle that includes two daughters, Nelma Byford
and Patsy Harris, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren,
and two great-great-grandchildren, including her namesake, Kallye
Elizabeth Harris; and
WHEREAS, A dedicated homemaker throughout her life, this
lovely lady has been highly praised for her talents as a gardener, a
quilter, and a cook; and
WHEREAS, For 100 years, Callie Bailey has enriched the lives
of countless Texans with her warmth and wisdom, and she remains an
inspiration to her family and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Callie Bailey
on the joyous occasion of her 100th birthday and extend to her best
wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mrs. Bailey as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
