R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Luis Saenz has been appointed by Governor Rick Perry
to serve as assistant secretary of state for the State of Texas; and
WHEREAS, A native of Carrizo Springs, Mr. Saenz most recently
served as Governor Perry's senior advisor for community affairs; in
that capacity, he acted as the governor's liaison to local elected
officials, community groups, and business and trade groups
throughout the state; in addition, Mr. Saenz has also worked on the
governor's appointment and press staffs; and
WHEREAS, Before joining the governor's office, he held the
post of executive assistant to Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn
and served on the legislative staffs of Senator Kay Bailey
Hutchison, Senator Phil Gramm, and Congressman Henry Bonilla; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of St. Mary's University, where he
received a degree in corporate finance, Mr. Saenz began his career
in 1990 as a research assistant at the Heritage Foundation in
Washington, D.C.; he subsequently received an appointment to the
U.S. State Department from President George H. W. Bush; and
WHEREAS, Praised by Governor Perry for his integrity and
achievements, Mr. Saenz acquired a strong sense of values and
responsibility from his family; this outstanding public servant is
a great credit to his parents, Lydia and Jaime Saenz, and his
grandparents, Leonor Rangel and the late Pedro Rangel, Avelino
Saenz, and Anastacia Saenz; together with the heritage of a caring
and close-knit family, he is also sustained by the love of his wife,
Cynthia, and his two daughters, Victoria and Natalia; and
WHEREAS, Luis Saenz has given unstintingly of his talents and
efforts in behalf of the people of Texas, and his unwavering
commitment to his state and its citizens represents the very best in
government service; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Luis Saenz on
his appointment as Texas assistant secretary of state and extend to
him sincere appreciation for his meritorious contributions to the
Lone Star State; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Saenz as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
