H.R. No. 131


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Dr. Ted Hansen, a faculty member in the department of music at Texas A&M University--Commerce, has been honored for the sixth consecutive year by the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP); and WHEREAS, The Standard Panel Composers Award was recently bestowed on Dr. Hansen by ASCAP, which selects honorees based on published works, performances for the calendar year, current compositions under way, and quality of musical compositions; and WHEREAS, Dr. Hansen has a distinguished record of achievement as a composer, and his works have been performed at Carnegie Hall in New York, at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., and on National Educational Television; recently, Dr. Hansen's "Contours for Violin and Piano" premiered during concerts at The University of Texas at Arlington and Texas A&M University--Commerce; in addition, this gifted gentleman enjoys a reputation as a jazz pianist who often entertains at Texas A&M University--Commerce functions; and WHEREAS, Through talent and dedication to his art, Dr. Hansen has achieved excellence in the field of music, and it is a pleasure to recognize him at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Dr. Ted Hansen for receiving the Standard Panel Composers Award and extend to him best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Dr. Hansen as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
