R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Pecos community lost a most distinguished
resident when longtime dentist and former city councilman and
school board member Dr. Elvia Reynolds passed away at the age of 78;
and
WHEREAS, After serving in World War II, Dr. Reynolds attended
dental school in St. Louis, Missouri, graduating in March 1954;
when he became a licensed dentist, he moved with his wife, Norma
Jean, and their three children to Pecos, where, for the next 49
years, he served the dental needs of area residents as an
orthodontist; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Reynolds made significant contributions to his
community as a board member and president of the
Pecos-Barstow-Toyah Independent School District and later as a city
council member; in addition, he was a member and past president of
the Rotary Club, an elder for the Church of Christ, and a board
member for Medina Children's Home; and
WHEREAS, Through hard work and a deep commitment to making
his town a better place in which to live, Dr. Reynolds positively
influenced the lives of many people, and he will not soon be
forgotten; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
Dr. Elvia Reynolds and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his
family: to his beloved wife, Norma Jean Reynolds; to his sons,
Randy Reynolds and Danny Reynolds; to his daughter, Gayle R. Britt;
to his sisters, Dale Meyer and Dot King; to his eight grandchildren
and five great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives and many
friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dr. Elvia
Reynolds.
