R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The opening of Jo Ella Exley Elementary School, at 21800 Westheimer Parkway, is ushering in an exciting new era of educational opportunity for students in the Katy Independent School District; and WHEREAS, The school is named for a 1962 honors graduate of The University of Texas who joined the Katy ISD in 1967, where she became known for her creative teaching style and innovative differentiated curriculum for gifted students; her outstanding contributions to education were recognized with a 1997 Teacher of the Year award from the Sons of the Republic of Texas; and WHEREAS, Residents of Katy may take pride in the school's diverse instructional programs and enrichment activities, which will enhance the learning experience of all of the school's students; and WHEREAS, The staff of Jo Ella Exley Elementary School is dedicating itself to the total education of its students, helping to develop tomorrow's leaders, and the school represents a significant new addition to the state's public school system; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commemorate the opening of the Jo Ella Exley Elementary School and commend all those associated with the school for their commitment to academic excellence.
