R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, For 23 years, Billy Reeves has dutifully served as constable of Precinct 5 in Hays County, and he remains one of the county's most beloved elected officials; and WHEREAS, During his years in office, Constable Reeves has consistently demonstrated the highest standards of excellence and professionalism, dutifully accepting the various responsibilities of this elected office and always placing the needs of his fellow citizens above his own; and WHEREAS, This esteemed public servant has devoted much of his time to supporting professional and community groups; a past president of the Justices of the Peace and Constables Association (JPCA), he also is a past president of the Hays County Criminal Justice Association and an active member of the Buda Lions Club; and WHEREAS, The recipient of several honors and accolades, Constable Reeves was presented with the Manchaca Optimist Club's Law Enforcement Award in 1985; in 1997, he was recognized as Constable of the Year by the Central Texas JPCA; and WHEREAS, Dedicated to the residents of Hays County, Constable Reeves has worked in area schools, teaching students about stranger danger and bicycle safety; he has further endeared himself to local families by hosting assemblies with McGruff the Crime Dog and by leading the annual Budafest Parade; and WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, Constable Reeves has drawn strength and support from his close-knit family, including his wife of 44 years, Linda, their three children, Mark, Jeffrey, and Susan, and their eight grandchildren; and WHEREAS, An exemplary lawman and outstanding leader in his community, Constable Reeves has made an indelible impression through his many good works; his noble efforts and years of upstanding service have created a safer community for the residents of Hays County, and it is most appropriate to pay tribute to him at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby honor Constable Billy H. Reeves for the many significant contributions he has made to the betterment of Hays County and commend him for his many years of outstanding service; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Constable Reeves as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
