H.R. No. 180R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The opening of Franz Elementary School ushers in an exciting new era of educational opportunity for students in the Katy Independent School District; and WHEREAS, Located at 2751 Westgreen Boulevard, this impressive new facility has been named in honor of one of Katy's original founding figures, David P. Franz and his family, who settled in the area on property west of present day Mason Road in 1896; two of his three sons, Cornelius and Peter, stayed on the land and made a road from their property going west to Katy and east toward Barker; today, the thoroughfare is still called Franz Road, and 14 descendants of the Franz family live on the original Franz tract; and WHEREAS, Residents of Katy may look forward to Franz Elementary School's diverse instructional education programs and enrichment activities, as their implementation will surely enhance the learning experience of every student; and WHEREAS, The staff is dedicated to the total education of its students, helping to develop tomorrow's leaders with pride and determination, and the school represents a significant addition to the state's public education system; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commemorate the opening of Franz Elementary School and commend all those associated with the school for their commitment to academic excellence; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
