R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The La Grange Noon Lions Club, a service organization that assists people locally, across the State of Texas, and around the world, is celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2003; and WHEREAS, Members of the La Grange club actively maintain the Lions tradition of support for sight-preservation efforts and help for the visually impaired; they have contributed to the Lighthouse for the Blind program through the annual Lions broom and mop sale, and their organization is a 100% Club in its donations to the Lions Eye Bank of Central Texas and the Lions World Services for the Blind in Little Rock, Arkansas, one of the world's largest rehabilitation centers for individuals who are blind or sight-impaired; and WHEREAS, In addition, the La Grange Noon Lions Club has been a 100% Club in contributing to the Texas Lions Camp in Kerrville for 25 consecutive years, as well as a 100% Club in donating to the Lions Leader Dog program; club members have long supported the Lions District 2-S5 Hearing Fund, the Texas Lions Foundation, and the Lions Club International Foundation; the campaign to build St. Mark's Medical Center, a new hospital in La Grange, has further benefited from their generosity; and WHEREAS, The La Grange Noon Lions Club has given outstanding support to the youth of its community, providing scholarships to many graduating seniors from La Grange High School, assisting the Fayette County Junior Livestock Show, and sponsoring more than 50 participants in Boys State and over 35 participants in Girls State; and WHEREAS, For three-quarters of a century, members of the La Grange Noon Lions Club have epitomized the ideals that stand at the heart of the Lions Club mission and enriched the lives of countless individuals; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby recognize October 12-18, 2003, as the 75th Anniversary Week of the La Grange Noon Lions Club and extend to its members sincere best wishes for a joyful and memorable celebration; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the La Grange Noon Lions Club as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
