R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A golden wedding anniversary is truly cause for celebration, and on September 20, 2003, Tomas and Eloisa Vara of Lamesa marked this memorable milestone with a special mass at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, followed by a reception hosted by their family at the Civic Center/Skateland; and WHEREAS, Mr. Vara and the former Eloisa Sanchez exchanged their wedding vows on September 20, 1953, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Lamesa, the city in which they have lived since 1957; through the years, the couple have shared a close and fulfilling relationship that has been the source of much happiness and contentment for these two committed individuals; and WHEREAS, The heart of a large, close-knit family, Mr. and Mrs. Vara have been blessed with 10 children, Thomas, Claudio, Yolanda, Delia, Jesse, Albert, and Anthony Vara, Mary Zavala, Kathy Molina, and Gloria Cantu; they also take great pride in their 34 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Retired from farming, the Varas are valued congregants of their church and have been involved with the Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Daughters of America; and WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Vara have nurtured a strong bond of love and filled each other's lives with great joy, and it is a privilege to join in honoring them at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Tomas and Eloisa Vara on the joyous occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Vara as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
