H.R. No. 199
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, In commemoration of their golden wedding
anniversary, Roy and Betty Henderson of Midland traveled to
Spokane, Washington, where they were the honorees at a
family-hosted dinner at the Klinkerdagger Restaurant on the banks
of the Spokane River; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Henderson and the former Betty Scott were
married on September 8, 1953, in Santa Anna, Texas; throughout
their marriage, the couple have enjoyed a fulfilling relationship,
and they have been blessed with a fine family that includes their
daughters and sons-in-law, Dana and Richard Mattox, and Sharlet and
Major Chip Lynn, and two granddaughters, Callie and Abbie Lynn; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Henderson is retired from a career as an
elementary school teacher, while Mr. Henderson worked in the oil
field service industry and later managed domestic operations for
Baker Hughes; since their marriage, they have also lived in Hobbs,
New Mexico; Levelland and Houston, Texas; Sterling and Denver,
Colorado; and Dickenson, North Dakota; and
WHEREAS, Valued congregants of First Baptist Church of
Midland, Mr. and Mrs. Henderson are certified ombudsmen who
advocate in behalf of residents of nursing homes and assisted
living facilities; they share their time and resources as
participants with Community and Senior Services of Midland, Inc.,
through which they help with the Meals on Wheels program and the
RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program); and
WHEREAS, Together, Mr. and Mrs. Henderson have shared the
trials and triumphs of half a century, and it is a pleasure to join
in honoring them at this time; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Roy and Betty
Henderson of Midland on the joyous occasion of their 50th wedding
anniversary; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Henderson as an expression of high regard
by the Texas House of Representatives.
