R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Texas Industries for the Blind & Handicapped (TIBH) recently celebrated the opening of its new TIBH Central Store; and WHEREAS, The facility, located in central Austin, enables Texas' state and local governmental entities, school districts, and Austin-area nonprofit organizations to purchase competitively priced furniture items and everyday office supplies; the products in the store are supplied by some of the 150 community rehabilitation programs throughout Texas that employ individuals with disabilities; and WHEREAS, TIBH Industries, as manager of the Texas State Use Works Wonders program, plays a pivotal role in increasing employment opportunities for disabled citizens; in 2002, the program facilitated more than $23 million in annual wages for hardworking Texans and contributed to the self-esteem and sense of accomplishment of the program's participants; and WHEREAS, This worthy organization benefits innumerable people throughout the Lone Star State, and it is a pleasure to honor TIBH Industries on the opening of its new store; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, commend TIBH Industries for its many contributions and congratulate all involved with the opening of the new TIBH Central Store; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the store as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
