H.R. No. 206



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, The affinity and deep respect Claire Connolly of 
Boston, Massachusetts, has for the Lone Star State make it a 
pleasure to recognize her 80th birthday and bestow on her the title 
of Honorary Texan; and
	WHEREAS, Born on January 19, 1924, in Boston, Mrs. Connolly 
married the love of her life, George Paul Connolly, on November 27, 
1943; their special union was blessed with three children, Donna 
Maria, Michelle, and Mark George, as well as six grandchildren, 
Stephanie Snyder, Colin Parrish, Kerri Connolly, Colleen Connolly, 
Briana Connolly, and Cory Connolly; and
	WHEREAS, Mrs. Connolly's first visit to Texas occurred in 
July 1970 when she came to see her daughter and son-in-law, Donna 
Maria and Dr. John Frederic Parrish, who had recently moved to 
Houston; over the next 33 years, she traveled throughout Texas to 
attend numerous special family events such as first communions and 
graduations; Mrs. Connolly even came to see her grandson at Boy 
Scout Camp, where she dined with him and 500 other scouts; and
	WHEREAS, Mrs. Connolly has discovered Texas' many cultural 
treasures along the way, including its universities, art museums, 
and rodeos, and she has enjoyed its myriad culinary delights, 
adding barbeque, tacos, and enchiladas to her regular diet; on one 
visit, Mrs. Connolly achieved a certain level of stardom by making a 
cameo appearance in a movie filmed in Austin that starred two Texas 
legends, Kris Kristofferson and Willie Nelson; and
	WHEREAS, Like any good Texan, Mrs. Connolly has a determined, 
fun-loving, and adventurous spirit, and the Texas House of 
Representatives is proud at long last to grant this esteemed lady  
Texas citizenship and the full rights and privileges accorded to 
all native Texans; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby recognize Claire Connolly 
as an Honorary Texan and extend to her best wishes for a joyous 80th 
birthday; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mrs. Connolly as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
