R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A 100th birthday is truly cause for a celebration, and on August 13, 2003, Cleo P. Sayles of Pittsburg, Texas, marked this significant milestone in the company of her family and friends; and WHEREAS, Born August 13, 1903, in the Harvard Switch community, Mrs. Sayles is the daughter of Willie and Alice Johnson; she married Booker T. Sayles, and together they shared a long and lasting union until his passing in 1974; and WHEREAS, A dedicated partner to her husband, she farmed alongside Mr. Sayles in Camp County, and the couple brought in their first bale of cotton in 1947; she attributes her longevity in part to years of hard work, which included milking two cows before sunrise and then making breakfast each morning; and WHEREAS, The birthday of Mrs. Sayles provides a fitting opportunity to honor this delightful woman, who has witnessed firsthand a century of progress and development; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Cleo P. Sayles on the momentous occasion of her 100th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Cleo P. Sayles as an expression of high esteem by the Texas House of Representatives.
