R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Curtis and Leona Maddox of Mings Chapel marked a 
momentous occasion in their lives when they celebrated their 70th 
wedding anniversary with a family gathering on September 14, 2003; 
and
	WHEREAS, United in matrimony on September 16, 1933, in 
Coffeeville, Mr. and Mrs. Maddox have been blessed with six 
children, and over the years they have proudly watched their 
extended family grow to include 10 grandchildren, 15 
great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. Maddox belongs to a homesteading family from 
Cox, where he attended school, and today the Maddox family still 
owns a portion of the original land;  Mrs. Maddox attended the 
Independence Springs School, where she excelled on the girls' 
basketball team; and
	WHEREAS, For seven decades, Mr. and Mrs. Maddox have nurtured  
a strong bond of love, filling each other's lives with many happy 
times and cherished family memories, and it is a pleasure to honor 
them for this remarkable achievement in their lives; now, 
therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Curtis and 
Leona Maddox on their 70th wedding anniversary and extend to them 
best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Maddox as an expression of high regard by 
the Texas House of Representatives.
