H.R. No. 222
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A 60th wedding anniversary is truly cause for
celebration, and on June 28, 2003, Austin and Rosa Lee Woods of
Longview marked this momentous occasion in their marriage with a
family gathering at the Brushy Creek Campground at Lake O' the
Pines; and
WHEREAS, Joined in marriage on July 7, 1943, in Ada,
Oklahoma, at Oak Avenue Baptist Church, Mr. Woods and the former
Rosa Lee Gargis have long enjoyed a warm and rewarding relationship
based on a solid foundation of mutual love, trust, and respect; they
are richly blessed with a close-knit family, including children,
Linda, Jackie, Charles, Carl, Robert, and Jerry Woods, and Betty
Swanson, and their family has grown to include 24 grandchildren and
34 great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Highly regarded residents of their community, the
couple are valued congregants of New Life Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Woods have shared the trials and
triumphs of six decades together, and it is most fitting that they
be honored for their enduring union; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Austin and
Rosa Lee Woods on the joyous occasion of their 60th wedding
anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued
happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Woods as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
