R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary is truly cause for a 
celebration, and on July 19, 2003, John and Gladys Lindsey of 
Longview marked this significant milestone among family and 
friends; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. Lindsey and the former Gladys Woods were married 
on July 8, 1953, in Burkeville; the couple have enjoyed a happy and 
rewarding relationship throughout their marriage, and they have 
been blessed with three children and seven grandchildren; and
	WHEREAS, Respected members of their community, the couple are 
active members of Longview Missionary Baptist Church; before his 
retirement, Mr. Lindsey was employed with Continental Can, while 
Mrs. Lindsey worked 10 years for the Houston Independent School 
District and continues to operate a catering business; and
	WHEREAS, For five decades, Mr. and Mrs. Lindsey have shared 
many happy times and cherished family memories; their commitment to 
each other is a source of great pride to their family and friends, 
and it is indeed appropriate that they be honored at this time; now, 
therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate John and 
Gladys Lindsey on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary 
and extend to them warmest best wishes for continued happiness; 
and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Lindsey as an expression of high regard by 
the Texas House of Representatives.
