R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, December 5, 2003, marks the retirement of Paul Lazzaro as vice president of marketing and public affairs for The Woodlands Operating Company, drawing to a close a distinguished career that has taken him from the U.S. Navy to Marriott Hotels to CBS; and WHEREAS, Considered the voice of The Woodlands, Mr. Lazzaro began consulting for the new owners of The Woodlands Operating Company, Morgan Stanley and Crescent Real Estate Company, in 1997; hired full-time the following year, he has led marketing for the master-planned community as well as handled public relations for issues ranging from major golf tournaments to disputes in local neighborhoods; and WHEREAS, Among his many accomplishments while at The Woodlands Operating Company are the creation of e-neighbor, the Resident Help Line, and thewoodlands.net, as well as the expansion of developers' contributions to community organization, which today stand at $300,000 a year; and WHEREAS, Mr. Lazzaro has also actively participated on the boards of numerous local organizations, including The Woodlands Association, The Woodlands Community Service Corporation, and The Woodlands Fire Department; in addition, he was the founder of First Night-The Woodlands, a nonalcoholic, family-oriented celebration of the arts held on New Year's Eve; and WHEREAS, Mr. Lazzaro has served The Woodlands community with integrity and dedication, earning the lasting respect and gratitude of its residents, and it is a pleasure to recognize his exemplary tenure with The Woodlands Operating Company as he embarks on this exciting new chapter in his life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Paul Lazzaro for his notable career and extend to him best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Lazzaro as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
