R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The 50th birthday of Donald Joe "Donnie" Camp provides an ideal opportunity to recognize the many achievements of this outstanding Texan; and WHEREAS, Born on November 1, 1953, in Snyder, to proud parents Joe Doyle and Virginia Ruth Camp, this esteemed gentleman graduated from Coronado High School in 1972 and received an academic scholarship to attend Texas Tech University; four years later, Mr. Camp earned a bachelor of science degree in engineering, and in 1983, having returned to his beloved alma mater, he graduated from the Texas Tech University School of Law; and WHEREAS, Over the years, Mr. Camp has developed an impressive professional record while forging many longstanding relationships with colleagues; a registered petroleum engineer and board certified attorney in oil, gas, and mineral law, he worked as an engineer for Amoco Production Company from 1972 to 1984 and then as an attorney for the General Land Office from 1984 to 1990; since 1990, he has maintained a law practice in Austin; and WHEREAS, In addition to his many successful business endeavors, Mr. Camp has maintained an interesting array of pastimes; a diehard Red Raiders football fan, he derives great pleasure in cheering his team to victory, particularly if the opposing team is wearing burnt orange and white jerseys; in his quieter, more reflective moments, Mr. Camp enjoys gazing at the stars with his telescope, gathering fossils for his collection, and listening to Tom Waits; and WHEREAS, Mr. Camp is the son-in-law of Jerree and Lydell Kiplin and the brother and brother-in-law of Carla Ruth and Charles David Nutt and Ellen Yvonne and Marvin Kent Whitmire; he is the brother-in-law of Miriam Castro and the uncle of Joshua George and Matthew Kent Whitmire and Melissa Ruth, Mary Ellen, and Vonda Jo Nutt; and WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Camp receives the love and support of his wife, Kimberly Lynne Camp, whom he married on December 28, 1985, as well as his children, Kathryn Elizabeth, Allison Leigh, and Patrick Thomas Camp; a man of infinite patience, he has volunteered more than once to serve in the unenviable position of designated parent on long, grueling school field trips; and WHEREAS, A devoted husband and family man, successful engineer and lawyer, cherished friend, and proud Texan, Donnie Camp truly deserves legislative recognition on this festive occasion commemorating his half century mark; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Donald Joe "Donnie" Camp on his 50th birthday and extend to him best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Camp as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
