H.R. No. 245
R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, The family and friends of Reymundo G. Contreras, 
Sr., of Robstown were deeply saddened by the passing of this 
esteemed gentleman on June 19, 2003, at the age of 85; and
	WHEREAS, Born on July 3, 1917, in Rivera, Mr. Contreras 
married the former Consuelo Ysassi on June 29, 1947, and their 
blessed union was rewarded by three daughters and four sons; 
throughout his life, he was a devoted family man who always 
demonstrated his deep love for his entire family; and
	WHEREAS, During World War II, Mr. Contreras served his 
country with great pride and distinction as a soldier in the U.S. 
Army; he was a long-standing and valued member of the Robstown 
community, and for 29 years he worked on the Robstown Police Force, 
a distinguished tenure that included his leadership role as chief 
of police; and
	WHEREAS, A devout Catholic, Mr. Contreras belonged to St. 
Anthony's Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of 
Columbus Council No. 3110; in addition, he benefited his community 
as a member of the  American GI Forum, as a cubmaster for the Boy 
Scouts of America, and as a charter member of the Columbian Squires 
in Robstown; and
	WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan will be sorely missed by those 
who were fortunate enough to have known him, and his memory will not 
soon be forgotten; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of 
Reymundo G. Contreras, Sr., and extend deepest sympathy to the 
members of his family:  to his daughters, Sylvia C. Easley, Olga C. 
Tschoepe, and Elva C. Earls; to his sons, Reymundo Contreras, Jr., 
Reynaldo Contreras, Hector Contreras, and Ricardo Contreras; to his 
brothers, Jesus Contreras, Noe Contreras, Daniel Contreras, Juan C. 
Contreras, and Ruben Contreras; to his 17 grandchildren and four 
great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives and many friends; 
and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of 
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Reymundo G. 
Contreras, Sr.
