R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary is truly cause for celebration, and on May 31, 2003, O. D. and Elizabeth Bretches of Midland marked this significant milestone with a family dinner at Pappadeaux Restaurant in Dallas; and WHEREAS, Mr. Bretches and the former Elizabeth Davis exchanged their wedding vows on May 27, 1953, in a ceremony held in Denison; through the years, their close and enduring relationship has served as an inspiration to their wide circle of loved ones and has been the source of much happiness and contentment for these two committed individuals; and WHEREAS, The heart of a close-knit family, Mr. and Mrs. Bretches have been blessed with two daughters, Debra Bretches and Susan Ray, and four grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Bretches was employed as a part-time bookkeeper with St. Luke's United Methodist Church, where the couple are valued congregants; Mr. Bretches retired in 1985 from a career with Arco Oil and Gas that spanned more than three decades; in addition to their church involvement, the couple participate with the Arco Retiree Club and several bridge groups; and WHEREAS, For half a century, Mr. and Mrs. Bretches have brought much happiness and contentment into each other's lives, and it is a pleasure to honor them at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate O. D. and Elizabeth Bretches on the joyous occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Bretches as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
