H.R. No. 257



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, The 1966 Kilgore College Rangers football team will 
be inducted into the Kilgore College Hall of Fame on October 3, 
2003, and this occasion provides a fitting opportunity to recognize 
the team's accomplishments and pay tribute to the players and 
coaches; and
	WHEREAS, Winners of the 1966 Junior College National 
Championship and cochampions of the Texas Junior College Football 
Federation, the Rangers posted a 10-1 record during that magical 
and memorable season; and
	WHEREAS, Led by Coach of the Year Boyd Converse and assistant 
coaches Solon Holt, Sandy Sands, and Bob Peterson, the team 
featured All-Americans John Gregory, Joe Sliker, and Bill Dietz and 
All-Conference selections Mike Sargent, Johnny Johnson, and Sid 
Bailey; and
	WHEREAS, Team members also included Billy Brousseau, Terry 
Reisig, Randy Lemons, Harry Watson, Robby Huckaby, Tony Atchley, 
Darnell Losak, Orie McKenzie, Clyde Reid, Danny Pidcock, Rudy 
Savatinelli, Andy Durrett, Andy Boland, Steve Atchley, Ronald 
Reagan, Steve Copeland, James Waltmon, Terry Warren, Roger Braker, 
Bobby Hawthorne, Jerry Guiledge, James Bannister, Ronny Freestone, 
and Freddy Carrington, and manager Red McKeller and trainer Dwayne 
Brewer contributed to the team's success; and
	WHEREAS, These dedicated individuals have earned a place in 
the sports annals of Kilgore College; their commitment to teamwork 
and a common goal resulted in a championship season that remains a 
source of pride to all who shared in that extraordinary 
accomplishment, and it is indeed a privilege to recognize the team 
at this time; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby honor the members of the 
1966 National Champion Kilgore College Rangers and congratulate the 
team on its induction into the Kilgore College Hall of Fame; and, be 
it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas 
House of Representatives.
