R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The year 2003 marks the retirement of Trooper Joseph
R. Cerney of Hondo from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS),
drawing to a close an outstanding 25-year career with the state; and
WHEREAS, A San Antonio native, this esteemed Texan served his
country with distinction in the United States Air Force from 1971
until 1975, when he was honorably discharged; and
WHEREAS, Trooper Cerney entered the DPS Academy in January
1979, and upon completion he was assigned to the Highway Patrol
Service in Hondo; in 1995, he transferred to the License and Weight
Service and was promoted to senior corporal in 2001; and
WHEREAS, The son of proud parents, Robert and Leta Cerney,
Trooper Cerney has enjoyed in all his endeavors the love and support
of his family, including wife Diana Cerney, their two daughters
Jessica and Ashley, and one grandson, Noah; and
WHEREAS, Trooper Cerney has served the State of Texas with
integrity and dedication throughout his career, earning the lasting
respect of all who have been privileged to work with him, and it is a
pleasure to recognize his exemplary tenure with the state as he
embarks on this new chapter in his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Trooper
Joseph R. Cerney for his notable career with the Texas Department of
Public Safety and extend to him best wishes for continued
happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Trooper Cerney as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
