R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The family and many friends of Airman Joshua Salazar
of Channelview were profoundly saddened by the untimely passing of
this esteemed Texan on September 1, 2003, at the age of 19; and
WHEREAS, Born on October 16, 1983, in Houston, Mr. Salazar
graduated from Channelview High School, where he lettered in
varsity baseball; a natural leader, he played an active role in his
church youth group and earned the respect and admiration of his
peers; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Salazar answered his country's call to duty and
joined the United States Air Force as an airman; after completing
technical training at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, he
was stationed at Pope Air Force Base in North Carolina; and
WHEREAS, Through his integrity, dedication, and enthusiasm
for life, Mr. Salazar inspired the many individuals who were
fortunate enough to have known him, and he will not soon be
forgotten; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
Joshua Salazar and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his
family: to his parents, Melissa Ogura and Enrique "Rick" Salazar;
to his sister, Gina Marie Salazar; to his grandparents, Patricia
Thomas and Milton Kenzo Ogura and Maria and Placido Salazar; to his
girlfriend, Candice Hill; and to his other relatives and many
friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Airman
Joshua Salazar.
