R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A golden wedding anniversary is truly cause for celebration, and on September 7, 2003, Robert and Melba Sills of Quitman marked this significant event in their lives with a family dinner; and WHEREAS, Mr. Sills and his bride, the former Melba Barber, were married on September 7, 1953, with the Reverend N. N. Marshall officiating at the ceremony held at the Willow Springs Baptist Church near Edgewood; their enduring union has served as an inspiration to their loved ones and has been the source of much happiness and contentment for these two devoted individuals; and WHEREAS, The heart of a cherished family, they take great delight in their two daughters, Amy Kay Hunter and Beth Ruth Doty, three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Sills graduated from Edgewood High School and attended East Texas State University in Commerce and TWU Institutional Foods in Denton; she was employed as hostess with the First Baptist Church of Arlington and with the First Baptist Church of Sherman until her retirement in 1988; and WHEREAS, Mr. Sills was born in Tennessee and attended high school in Hazel, Kentucky; stationed at Carswell Air Base in Fort Worth during his service in the U.S. Air Force, he retired from a career with Texas Instruments in 1990; and WHEREAS, Together, this devoted couple have nurtured a strong bond of love and filled each other's lives with great joy, and it is a privilege to honor them at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Robert and Melba Sills of Quitman on the joyous occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Sills as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
