H.R. No. 287
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, On October 25, 2003, members of St. Rose of Lima
Court No. 827 of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas will
celebrate the 80th anniversary of this venerable charitable
institution; and
WHEREAS, Organized in Mission in 1923, St. Rose of Lima Court
No. 827 is one of the oldest courts of the Catholic Daughters of the
Americas in the United States; members include women from all walks
of life who serve as religion teachers, Eucharistic ministers, and
liturgical ministers in their respective churches; and
WHEREAS, These dedicated women are united in their efforts to
promote charitable endeavors on the local, state, and national
levels, lending financial support to families in need, nursing
homes, and the McAllen-based Comfort House; in addition, annual
donations are also made to all of the Texas Catholic bishops and to
the Oblates of Mary Immaculate Seminary in San Antonio; and
WHEREAS, Charitable donations are the backbone of countless
humanitarian organizations, and the commendable efforts of the
members of St. Rose of Lima Court No. 827 are a tribute to the legacy
of service provided by the Catholic Daughters of the Americas; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby recognize the 80th
anniversary of St. Rose of Lima Court No. 827 of the Catholic
Daughters of the Americas and commend the many individuals who have
dedicated themselves to the success of this noteworthy
organization; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the court's members as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
