H.R. No. 289
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, September 8, 2003, marked the 50th anniversary of
the opening of the Lackland Independent School District, and this
provides an occasion to recognize this outstanding organization for
the exemplary education it has provided to countless young Texans
over the course of the past five decades; and
WHEREAS, Located on Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio,
the district serves students from early childhood through the 12th
grade in two facilities; in recent years the Lackland ISD has grown
to include a new high school and gymnasium and soon will feature a
new library and media center; and
WHEREAS, Both campuses in this esteemed system have been
recognized as National Blue Ribbon Award winners by the United
States Department of Education and consistently earned the highest
ratings in the Texas Public Schools Accountability System; and
WHEREAS, Lackland Independent School District has provided
generations of Texas schoolchildren with the tools they need to
become happy and productive members of society and helped to shape
tomorrow's leaders; a shining example of excellence in education,
this exceptional district is indeed deserving of special
legislative recognition as it celebrates this significant
milestone in its rich history; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate the Lackland
Independent School District on the 50th anniversary of its founding
and extend to its faculty, staff, and students sincere best wishes
for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the Lackland Independent School District as an
expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
