R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Jacksonville Lodge No. 108, Ancient Free and
Accepted Masons (A.F. & A.M.), is celebrating its 150th anniversary
on October 16, 2003, and this momentous event is testament to the
longstanding commitment and dedication of those individuals who
have served this noteworthy group; and
WHEREAS, The oldest organization in Jacksonville, Lodge No.
108 was chartered in January of 1853, and its inaugural officers
included E. B. Ragsdale, worshipful master, D. G. Templeton, senior
warden, Richard Frazier, junior warden, Wiley Long, treasurer, A.
K. Middleton, senior deacon, G. M. Doherty, junior deacon, and L. H.
Lane, tiler; and
WHEREAS, Throughout its enduring history, Jacksonville Lodge
No. 108 has served citizens on the local, state, and national
levels, offering support and assistance to numerous worthwhile
charitable organizations and helping families cope with the ravages
of natural disasters, and the members of this venerable group are
justifiably proud of these exemplary efforts; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby recognize the 150th
anniversary of Jacksonville Lodge No. 108, A.F. & A.M., and pay
tribute to the past and present members of this esteemed
organization; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the members of Jacksonville Lodge No. 108, A.F. & A.M.,
as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of
Representatives.
