R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Brandon Hill of Fort Worth has received the Brown Foundation-Earl Rudder Memorial Outstanding Student Award, the highest honor bestowed on a graduating senior at Texas A&M University; and WHEREAS, To be eligible for the Brown-Rudder Award, a student must demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and leadership, be a member of an honorary or professional society, participate in extracurricular activities, including community service, and be dedicated to Texas A&M and its principles; and WHEREAS, Mr. Hill, an agribusiness major, was described by those nominating him as always being on the side of right and the champion of the underdog; he exemplifies, said one, "the five qualities sought by students at Texas A&M: mind and intellect, physical strength, integrity of character, emotional poise, and spiritual attainment"; and WHEREAS, The recipient of multiple scholarships, Mr. Hill graduated from Martin High School in Arlington and maintained a perfect 4.0 GPR throughout his career at Texas A&M; he served as president of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Student Council and represented his college in the Student Senate; he also served as executive vice president of the Student Government and became the first Texas A&M student to cochair a national search committee for a top-level university official when he participated in the search for a vice president of student affairs; and WHEREAS, This admirable young Texan received the Buck Weirus Spirit Award for his contributions to student life on campus and was named a Gathright Scholar for earning the highest GPR in his college; he held membership in two honorary societies and the pre-law society; and WHEREAS, Mr. Hill is presently attending Texas Tech University School of Law with his wife, Gara, and has been elected president of his law school class; and WHEREAS, Widely admired for his exceptional talents and for the ideals he puts into daily practice, Brandon Hill has set an inspiring example for all who know him and compiled a record of accomplishments that promises a bright and fulfilling future; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby honor Brandon Hill for his receipt of the Brown Foundation-Earl Rudder Memorial Outstanding Student Award at Texas A&M University and extend to him best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Hill as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
