R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, On November 6, 2003, Luke Shipley will receive the
Presidential Student Service Award at the 2003 Leadership Awards
Gala in recognition of excellence in community service; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Shipley and his coalition invested 164 hours in
initiating a three-phase project to remove and replace broken
fencing and construct a new road through a cemetery; the first
phase, which included fund-raising and the removal of dilapidated
fences, was completed in May 2003, and plans are under way to
complete this ambitious and highly anticipated project; and
WHEREAS, The Presidential Student Service Award is a truly
prestigious honor that is presented to only the most deserving
recipients, and through his receipt of this coveted award, Luke
Shipley has joined an elite group of public-spirited individuals;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Luke Shipley
on his receipt of the Presidential Student Service Award and
commend this exemplary individual for his commitment to community
service; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Luke Shipley as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
