H.R. No. 322



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, On November 6, 2003, Veronica Alarcon will receive 
the Presidential Student Service Award at the 2003 Leadership 
Awards Gala in recognition of excellence in community service; and
	WHEREAS, Ms. Alarcon and her coalition devoted 151 hours to 
working with fourth- and fifth-grade students at A. J. Martin 
Elementary; coalition members tutored those students in math and 
language arts, and their efforts resulted in an improved overall 
grade point average for the students; and
	WHEREAS, The Presidential Student Service Award is a truly 
prestigious honor that is presented to only the most deserving 
recipients, and through her receipt of this coveted award, Veronica 
Alarcon has joined an elite group of public-spirited individuals; 
now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Veronica 
Alarcon on her receipt of the Presidential Student Service Award 
and commend this exemplary individual for her commitment to 
community service; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Veronica Alarcon as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
