R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, On November 6, 2003, Vinay Shah will receive the 
Presidential Student Service Award at the 2003 Leadership Awards 
Gala in recognition of excellence in community service; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. Shah and his coalition volunteered at the Chin 
Style Martial Arts School, where they worked with students in an 
effort to encourage them to stay healthy and gain self-confidence; 
he and his group also raised $130 for the Houston Food Bank, helped 
prepare middle school students for speech and debate tournaments, 
and volunteered at the Houston Public Library; and
	WHEREAS, The Presidential Student Service Award is a truly 
prestigious honor that is presented to only the most deserving 
recipients, and through his receipt of this coveted award, Vinay 
Shah has joined an elite group of public-spirited individuals; now, 
therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Vinay Shah on 
his receipt of the Presidential Student Service Award and commend 
this exemplary individual for his commitment to community service; 
and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Vinay Shah as an expression of high regard by the Texas 
House of Representatives.
