R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Honorable Ori T. White, district attorney for
the 112th Judicial District, has during his two terms in office
worked tirelessly in behalf of his constituents in Crockett, Pecos,
Reagan, Sutton, and Upton counties, and it is an honor to pay
tribute to an exemplary prosecutor who has truly helped to make West
Texas a safer place in which to live; and
WHEREAS, Mr. White is known throughout legal and law
enforcement circles as a man of uncompromising integrity,
commitment, and compassion; over the years he has helped to forge
strong ties between the district attorney's office and local police
departments, and these partnerships have resulted in the seizure
and forfeiture of more than $2.5 million in drug money; and
WHEREAS, In handling many of our state's most visible murder
cases, District Attorney White has shown himself to be a passionate
and eloquent prosecutor with an impressive record of success; a
champion for victims' rights, he has personally contributed to the
efforts of Friends For Hope, a local organization that provides
outreach services to the victims of domestic violence and sexual
assault, and his office has responded quickly and effectively to
the needs of abused children and adults; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding Texan has been an inspiration to
all those who have had the privilege of working by his side; having
decided not to run for reelection, Mr. White looks forward to a new
chapter in his life, in which he will be able to spend more time with
his wife, Marrianne, and their three sons, Tad, Matthew, and
Mitchell, and he may look back with pride at his achievements as an
attorney and officer of the court; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate the Honorable
Ori T. White, district attorney for the 112th Judicial District, on
the occasion of his retirement and extend to him best wishes for
continued success and happiness in all his endeavors; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. White as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
