R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, The Combat Infantryman Badge was established to 
recognize gallant and intrepid service by a member of the United 
States Army, and through his courageous actions in Vietnam, Joel 
Jimenez distinguished himself as a worthy recipient of this 
prestigious medal; and
	WHEREAS, Over the course of his military service, Mr. 
Jimenez, a former specialist in the 77th Armor Regiment, 5th 
Infantry Division, acted with valor and distinction and made a 
commendable contribution to his fellow citizens; and
	WHEREAS, The Combat Infantryman Badge was awarded to Mr. 
Jimenez on November 25, 1969, for his performance of duty while 
under hostile fire, as he engaged in active ground combat with the 
enemy in the Republic of Vietnam; this courageous gentleman will 
finally be presented with his well-deserved medal on October 20, 
2003, at Sheppard Air Force Base; and
	WHEREAS, Through his unfaltering devotion to duty, honor, and 
his country, Joel Jimenez embodies the highest ideals of the armed 
service, and he most assuredly merits this notable award; now, 
therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas 
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend Joel Jimenez for 
his service and congratulate him on his receipt of the Army Combat 
Infantryman Badge; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. Jimenez as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
