A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to making an appropriation to the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio for the purpose of supporting the Regional Academic Health Center and the Laredo Extension Campus, and making an appropriation to the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston for the purpose of completing building construction of the Regional Academic Health Center at the University of Texas School of Public Health at the Brownsville Regional Campus. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. In addition to other amounts appropriated to The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio for all or part of the state fiscal biennium that began September 1, 2003, for the purpose of supporting the Regional Academic Health Center, the amount of $19,161,612 is appropriated out of the general revenue fund to The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio for the state fiscal biennium that began September 1, 2003, for the purpose of supporting the Regional Academic Health Center established under Section 74.611, Education Code, to serve the Lower Rio Grande Valley. SECTION 2. In addition to other amounts appropriated to The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio for all or part of the state fiscal biennium that began September 1, 2003, for the purpose of supporting the programs and operations of the Laredo Campus Extension, the amount of $3,765,507 is appropriated out of the general revenue fund to The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio for the state fiscal biennium that began September 1, 2003, for the purpose of supporting the programs and operations of the Laredo Campus Extension. SECTION 3. In addition to other amounts appropriated to The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston for all or part of the state fiscal biennium that began September 1, 2003, for the purpose of completing building construction of the Regional Academic Health Center at the University of Texas School of Public Health - Brownsville Regional Campus, the amount of $2,000,000 is appropriated out of the general revenue fund to The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston for the state fiscal biennium that began September 1, 2003, for the purpose of completing building construction of the Regional Academic Health Center at the University of Texas School of Public Health - Brownsville Regional Campus established under Section 74.611, Education Code, to serve the Lower Rio Grande Valley. SECTION 4. This Act takes effect October 1, 2003, if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this Act does not receive the vote necessary to take effect on that date, this Act takes effect January 1, 2004.
