SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 25

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize the Birdville Baptist Church of Haltom City on 
the grand occasion of its 150th anniversary, which is being 
celebrated November 9, 2003; and
	WHEREAS, The Birdville Baptist Church has its 
roots in a congregation that originated in 1853, when
Pastor John Allen Freeman joined William M. Giddens, Sanders Eliott,
R. Pickett, and J. Boone to organize Fossil Creek Baptist Church; 
this original church was reorganized as the United Baptist Church 
at Fossil Creek in 1864; in the early 1900s, the church was moved 
to its present location and was renamed the Birdville Baptist 
Church in 1917; and
	WHEREAS, Over the years, the church has ministered 
faithfully to the spiritual needs of many Christians; and
	WHEREAS, Under the guidance and wise stewardship of its 
pastors, the church has continued to grow and to undertake many 
worthy projects on behalf of its congregation and the communities 
of Northeast Tarrant County; and
	WHEREAS, The members of Birdville Baptist Church come 
together joyfully for faith-filled worship services, and they 
have been a source of strength to one another during their 
hardships and in times of bereavement; and
	WHEREAS, The celebration of its 150th anniversary is 
a milestone in the church's history and a reflection of its 
enduring commitment to its holy mission; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 
78th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby extend best wishes 
to the clergy and members of the Birdville Baptist Church on the 
jubilant occasion of its 150th anniversary; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
the church as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
