SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 29
In Memory
of
Robert Parnell
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
of Waco in paying tribute to the life of Robert Parnell, who died
on August 22, 2002, at the age of 76; and
WHEREAS, Robert Parnell was born in Shreveport, Louisiana,
to William Rogers and Ina Crosby Parnell, on July 19, 1926; and
WHEREAS, He attended Texas A&M University and graduated
from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Parnell shared a loving marriage of 45 years
with Patricia Manning Parnell, and the couple was blessed with
three children and four grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, His entire career was spent as a loyal and
dedicated employee of T. L. James and Company, Incorporated, of
Ruston; he retired as vice president of the business in 1991; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his life, Mr. Parnell took seriously
his right to express his point of view; over the years, he gained
the reputation as the most prolific writer of witty and acerbic
letters to the editor that ever appeared on the pages of the Waco
Tribune-Herald; and
WHEREAS, Robert Parnell lived his life to the fullest and
was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he leaves
behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and
many friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby extend sincere
condolences to the bereaved family of Robert Parnell: his wife,
Patricia Manning Parnell; his daughter, Susan Parnell Mosley;
his sons, Leslie Blake and Richard Charles Parnell; his
grandchildren, Laura, James, and Matthew Mosley and Lydia Parnell;
his sister, Marilyn Parnell Folger; his brothers, David, Jon Lee,
and Ronald Patrick Parnell; and his many other beloved relatives;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
day, it do so in memory of Robert Parnell.
