SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 39
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Texas Veterinary Medical Association, which is
celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2003; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1903 by a group of veterinarians
in Fort Worth, the association strives to advance veterinary
medicine, to promote high standards within the veterinary
profession, and to educate the public regarding animal health;
and
WHEREAS, The Texas Veterinary Medical Association played
an instrumental role in ensuring passage of the legislation that
governs the practice of veterinary medicine and helped to establish
the School of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M University; and
WHEREAS, The association provides its more than 3,000
members with professional support services that promote
excellence in the practice of veterinary medicine; and
WHEREAS, The Texas Veterinary Medical Association has
provided a century of outstanding leadership and valuable
service to its members; and
WHEREAS, The conclusion of the centennial celebration of
this exemplary organization will take place in Fort Worth on
October 4, 2003; the President's Reception will be held at the
Renaissance Worthington Hotel, followed by the Grand Finale
Celebration at the Convention Center; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend the Texas
Veterinary Medical Association for its distinguished 100 years
of outstanding service to veterinarians in our state and to the
public and extend best wishes to the organization for continued
success in fulfilling its mission; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the association as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
