SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 41

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize Linda Krause, of the Lewisville Independent School 
District, who has been named the Texas Outstanding Social Studies 
Teacher of the Year by the Texas Council for the Social Studies; and
	WHEREAS, Linda Krause, an educator with 27 years of
experience, has taught at Wellington Elementary School in
Flower Mound for five years; she earned the title of Texas
Outstanding Social Studies Teacher of the Year due to her ability 
to engage her students' interest in our nation's history, social 
studies, and geography; and
	WHEREAS, Dedicated to inspiring her students to be 
actively involved in a democratic society, Linda continuously 
explores new teaching strategies; this past summer, she spent 
eight days at the We the People:  The Citizen and the Constitution 
Institute at James Madison University; at the institute, 
constitutional scholars help teachers to learn new methods to 
improve students' understanding of the history and principles of 
government; and
	WHEREAS, A hands-on teacher, Linda Krause puts her 
training to use in the classroom and makes her lessons as real as 
possible; through such strategies as holding mock elections, in 
which her students register to vote, set up polling booths, and 
vote, she brings the reality of the democratic process into the 
classroom; and
	WHEREAS, An outstanding educator, Linda has dedicated 
her life to imparting knowledge about our nation's history and 
democratic form of government to our state's young citizens, and 
her efforts will have a positive and lifelong impact on countless 
students; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 
78th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend Linda Krause
for her exceptional abilities as an educator and extend 
congratulations to her on her selection as the Texas Outstanding 
Social Studies Teacher of the Year; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
