SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 46

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize the adult day care centers across our state for the 
invaluable assistance they provide our senior citizens; and
	WHEREAS, September 21 to 27, 2003, is being celebrated as 
Adult Day Services Week; the theme of this year's celebration is 
Adult Day Services:  Changing How We Live, Not Where You Live; and
	WHEREAS, During both good and difficult times, our senior 
citizens have made countless contributions to our state and to 
the well-being of their fellow Texans; through their hard work 
and through their enduring commitment to the ideals of our state 
and nation, they have set an example of true citizenship and have 
helped pave the way for future generations; and
	WHEREAS, The adult day care centers of Texas strive to 
ensure that senior citizens with special needs are provided
with health, social, and other related support services in a 
protective environment during normal business hours five days a 
week; the Adult Day Care Association of Texas is sponsoring Adult 
Day Services Week to provide an awareness campaign on the health 
and safety needs of senior citizens and the centers that help to 
care for them; and
	WHEREAS, By observing this special week, all Texans pay 
tribute to our elders and to the associations and day care 
centers that help them to live full and productive lives; now, 
therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby express appreciation 
to our state's adult day care centers for all they do to meet the 
unique health and safety needs of some of our most deserving 
citizens; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in 
honor of the adult day care centers of our state.
