SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 79

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize the members and clergy of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church 
in Houston as they celebrate the dedication of the recently 
developed Christian/Community Life Center complex; and

	WHEREAS, During the weekend of October 3, 2003, the members 
of the church community will gather at the life center complex 
for a dedication gala Friday evening on the church grounds that 
will include a reception and dinner with live Christian jazz 
provided by Conrad Johnson and Friends and Joe Carmouche; and

	WHEREAS, On Sunday, October 5, the dedication celebration 
will continue with a worship service at 11:00 a.m. and a formal 
dedication ceremony at 2:30 p.m.; and

	WHEREAS, Over the years, Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church has 
ministered faithfully to the spiritual needs of many Christians, 
and it continues to grow and to undertake many worthy projects in 
the community; and

	WHEREAS, The new Christian/Community Life Center will 
undoubtedly be an asset to church members and area citizens, and 
its dedication ceremony will serve as a source of strength and 
inspiration to all who attend; now, therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate 
members of the Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church on the grand 
occasion of the dedication of the church's Christian/Community 
Life Center and extend best wishes for the future to all who 
attend; and, be it further

	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as a 
memento of this special occasion.
