SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 80
In Memory
of
Dr. Joseph Clayton Gathe, Sr.
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Houston in mourning the loss of Dr. Joseph Clayton Gathe, Sr., who died September 22, 2003, at the age of 73; and WHEREAS, Dr. Gathe was an exemplary citizen who was respected in the community for his many accomplishments, and he will be fondly remembered by the members of the Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, in which he was an archon; and WHEREAS, Dr. Gathe was a devout Catholic and practiced his faith in his daily life; and WHEREAS, He truly nurtured all of those he met and knew, bringing them many unforgettable and shining moments of laughter, love, and sharing; and WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, Joseph Gathe gave unselfishly to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and WHEREAS, Joseph was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Dr. Joseph Clayton Gathe, Sr.: his children, Jeffrey Christopher Gathe, Dr. Joy Carol Ghermay, Dr. Joseph Clayton Gathe, Jr., Dr. Julia Collette Flowers, and Jillian Christina Gathe; his grandchildren, Joya, Joseph III, Katana, Hayden, Chandler, Savannah, Morgan, and Sydney; his great-granddaughter, Lauryn; and many other beloved family members; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dr. Joseph Clayton Gathe, Sr. Ellis ________________________________ President of the Senate I hereby certify that the above Resolution was adopted by the Senate on September 29, 2003, by a rising vote. ________________________________ Secretary of the Senate ________________________________ Member, Texas Senate
