SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 85
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Rebecca Jane Rogers, who retired on August 29, 2003,
after nearly 30 years of loyal service with the Texas Extension
Cooperative; and
WHEREAS, Rebecca began her career with the extension
cooperative in Uvalde County shortly after graduating from
Southwest Texas State University; she served as an agent-at-large
for Edwards, Real, Kinney, and Val Verde counties; and
WHEREAS, She later worked in El Paso County for eight years
and then moved in 1988 to Kendall County, where she worked for
15 years before retiring; during her tenure with the extension
service, Rebecca earned a master's degree in education from
Texas A&M University; and
WHEREAS, A talented and resourceful individual, Rebecca
has received numerous accolades and awards for her work
over the years, including a Distinguished Service Award from
the Texas Extension Cooperative, a Distinguished Achievement
Award from the Texas Extension Specialists Association, the
Vice Chancellor's Award for Excellence from Texas A&M University,
and the American Spirit Award from the 4-H Agents Association;
and
WHEREAS, Rebecca was an exemplary employee who is admired
and respected by her former colleagues, and her presence with the
Texas Extension Cooperative is greatly missed; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend
Rebecca Jane Rogers on her outstanding service with the Texas
Extension Cooperative and her many contributions to our state
and extend to her best wishes for the retirement years ahead;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
