SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 89
In Memory
of
Judson Hiram Phelps, Jr.
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and commemorates the life of Judson Hiram Phelps, Jr., who died on September 14, 2003, at the age of 64; and WHEREAS, Judson was born in San Antonio on June 22, 1939; he earned a bachelor's degree at The University of Texas at Austin and earned a doctorate from The University of Texas School of Law; and WHEREAS, A member of the State Bar of Texas, he was engaged in the private practice of law at the time of his death; and WHEREAS, An exemplary citizen, Judson Phelps was respected in the community for his many accomplishments; he was a member of the Texas Cavaliers, the Order of the Alamo, and the San Antonio German Club; in addition, he was a past president of the Conopus Club and past chairman of the Good Samaritan Center; and WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, Judson gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and WHEREAS, A devout Christian, he was a member of Saint Mark's Episcopal Church; and WHEREAS, Judson Phelps was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 78th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Judson Hiram Phelps, Jr.: his wife, Clytie; his daughter, Eleanor Phelps; his daughter and son-in-law, Katie and William J. McDonough; his grandson, William J. McDonough III; his sisters, July Phelps DeMoss and Martha Phelps Vogt; and his brother, Nicholas Phelps; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Judson Hiram Phelps, Jr. Wentworth ________________________________ President of the Senate I hereby certify that the above Resolution was adopted by the Senate on October 2, 2003, by a rising vote. ________________________________ Secretary of the Senate ________________________________ Member, Texas Senate
