SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 118
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Helen Quiram for her many years of outstanding service
to the Republican Party; and
WHEREAS, Helen Quiram has served the Republican Party with
distinction since she first became an active supporter, in 1956;
and
WHEREAS, A 1951 graduate of Waco High School, Helen
attended Abby Business School, and she has been a loyal employee
of American-Amicable Life Insurance Company of Texas in Waco for
over 50 years; she continues to benefit her community and her
former school by serving on the board of Friends of Waco High
School; and
WHEREAS, Helen served as secretary for the McLennan County
Republican Party Executive Committee for eight years and as
vice chairman of the county's Republican Party for 12 years; a
volunteer for countless political campaigns of Republican office
seekers, she was named Volunteer of the Year for Senate District 22,
and she had the honor of being elected a presidential elector
for Congressional District 11 in 2000; she is currently the
McLennan County chairman for Governor Rick Perry; and
WHEREAS, Since 1986, Helen Quiram has served as the county's
Republican Party election coordinator; her responsibilities have
included recruiting and training election judges, alternates, and
clerks; and
WHEREAS, Helen has attended every Republican State
Convention since 1958, and she cochaired the Texas Federation of
Republican Women's State Convention last November, the largest
convention in the organization's history; and
WHEREAS, Helen Quiram's participation in the political
process has truly been an invaluable asset to the Republican
Party in Texas, and she deserves recognition for her years of
hard work and her many accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
78th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend Helen Quiram
for her exemplary work on behalf of the Republican Party in Texas
and extend best wishes to her for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
