R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Margaret Cathleen "Cathy" McGee Scheurer of Dallas on April 10, 2004, at the age of 47, has brought a profound loss to the family and many friends of this loved and respected woman; and WHEREAS, Born in Kansas City, Missouri, on January 17, 1957, to Joan and Tom McGee, Mrs. Scheurer graduated cum laude from The Barstow School and with honors from Duke University before moving to Dallas to pursue a career with Neiman Marcus and The Horchow Collection; and WHEREAS, Married to Hugh Scheurer on November 27, 1982, Mrs. Scheurer gave birth to three precious sons, Tommy, Paul, and Ricky and delighted in her roles as wife and mother; and WHEREAS, Steadfastly devoted to her children, her husband, and her community, Mrs. Scheurer worked tirelessly with PTAs and booster clubs, spearheading committees, raising funds, founding a student savings program, and planning benefit galas for her children's schools; in addition, she served as her husband's partner in Dallas' Signature Bank and was president of the Duke Alumni Association of Dallas; and WHEREAS, Kind, compassionate, and a beacon of goodwill, Cathy McGee Scheurer was a true blessing to all who were privileged to know her, and although she will be greatly missed, her legacy will live on in the hearts of those whose lives she touched; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby pay special tribute to the life of Cathy McGee Scheurer and extend deepest sympathy to the members of her family: to her husband, Hugh H. Scheurer; to her children, Thomas, Paul, and Richard Scheurer, Julie and husband Mark Curry, and Mark and wife Cary Scheurer; to her granddaughters, Jacqueline Curry and Taylor Scheurer; to her mother, Joan McGee; to her siblings, Susan McGee, Jill and Tom McGee, Jr., and Sarah and Ron Jury; and to all who mourn the passing of this cherished woman; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns on this day, it do so in honor of Margaret Cathleen McGee Scheurer.
