H.R. No. 22
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Billy Frank Blaylock of
Eldorado on November 17, 2003, at the age of 78, has deeply saddened
this beloved man's family and host of friends; and
WHEREAS, Born in Eldorado on March 2, 1925, Mr. Blaylock
graduated from Robert Lee High School and attended Tarleton State
University for one year before joining the United States Marine
Corps; he served proudly with the Fifth Marine Division during
World War II and sustained severe injuries in the battle of Iwo
Jima; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Blaylock married the love of his life, the
former Mabel Jay, on June 10, 1944, and with her he enjoyed a close
and rewarding marriage that was made even richer with the arrival of
four children, 14 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, A man of many talents and interests, Mr. Blaylock
owned a leather shop and worked with Foxworth Galbraith Lumber
Company and Eldorado Woolen Mill in his earlier years; he later
joined the United States Postal Service and spent 33 years as a
rural mail carrier; additionally, Mr. Blaylock was a longtime
farmer and rancher; and
WHEREAS, This fine gentleman served as a deacon with the
First Baptist Church and as a leader with the Boy Scouts of America;
in his leisure time, he took pleasure in gardening, working
leather, and making jerky, and he especially enjoyed sharing
stories and laughter with his wide circle of loved ones; and
WHEREAS, Billy Frank Blaylock was truly a blessing in the
lives of countless people, and he will long be remembered for his
generous spirit and his deep devotion to family and community; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
Billy Frank Blaylock and extend sincere sympathy to the members of
his family: to his wife, Mabel Jay Blaylock; to his children and
their spouses, Frankie Hardy, Steve and Mary Ann Blaylock, Billie
Gayl and Cliff Boren, and Eva Jo and Steve Sessom; to his
grandchildren, Katie, Donnie, Lindy, Jamie, Jay, Jeff, Betsy,
M'Lissa, Jeremy, Micah, Staci, Benny, and Stormi; to his
great-grandchildren, Payton and Logan; to his sisters, Jerry
Blaylock and Ebba Nikolauk; and to all who mourn the passing of this
cherished man; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Billy Frank
Blaylock.
