H.R. No. 25
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Delia Flores Pina of
Eldorado on October 13, 2003, at the age of 72, has deeply saddened
this beloved woman's family and host of friends; and
WHEREAS, A native Texan, she was born on August 15, 1931, in
Sonora; Mrs. Pina graduated from San Antonio Tech as a licensed
vocational nurse and earned her degree as a registered nurse from
Baptist Memorial School of Nursing; she embarked on a noble career
in health care and spent the greater part of her life in Eldorado,
where she served on the board of the local hospital; and
WHEREAS, The former Delia Flores met the love of her life,
Domingo Pina, in Eldorado, and they enjoyed a happy and enduring
relationship; their joy was multiplied through the years by the
arrival of two children and three beloved grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Deeply committed to her community, Mrs. Pina was a
stalwart volunteer in organizations that promote health and
education; she was also an active congregant of First Baptist
Church, where she participated in the choir, Sunday school,
missions, and the Senior Ambassadors; and
WHEREAS, Much appreciated for the time and talents she shared
with church and civic groups, Mrs. Pina will also be remembered
fondly for the highly prized hot sauce that she created and for her
thoughtful, homemade gifts; and
WHEREAS, Delia Pina worked tirelessly in behalf of the sick
and those less fortunate, and the blessing of her life will long be
cherished by all who were privileged to share in her love and
friendship; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
Delia Flores Pina and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her
family: to her daughter, Debbie Pina; to her son and
daughter-in-law, Danny and Deborah Pina; to her grandchildren,
Jordan, Jacob, and Joshua; to her sisters and brothers, Odilia F.
Duran, Cristela F. Bautista, Robert Flores, and Esteban C. Flores,
Jr.; and to all who mourn the passing of this cherished woman; and,
be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Delia
Flores Pina.
