R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Domingo Lopez Pina of
Eldorado on October 13, 2003, at the age of 65, has deeply saddened
this beloved man's family and host of friends; and
WHEREAS, Born on December 20, 1937, in Eldorado, the son of
Longino and "Golla" Pina, Mr. Pina grew up on a farm and graduated
from Eldorado High School; and
WHEREAS, He served his country with distinction as a member
of the United States Army and went on to work for the Texas Highway
Department, where he spent 17 years, and the Atlantic Richfield
Company, from which he was retired; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Pina shared a close and fulfilling marriage with
his longtime love, Delia Flores Pina, and the devoted couple
rejoiced as their family grew to include two children and three
grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, A highly regarded member of his community, Mr. Pina
volunteered with school athletic programs and served with such
worthy groups as the Eldorado EMS, Eldorado Volunteer Fire
Department, Boy Scouts of America, and Girl Scouts of the USA; he
was a valued congregant of First Baptist Church and was involved in
a number of church-related activities, among them the missions team
and the Senior Ambassadors; and
WHEREAS, Held in high esteem and affection for his
willingness to help others and for his delightful sense of humor,
Domingo Pina was a blessing in the lives of countless people, and
his spirit will long live on in the hearts of all he touched; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th
Texas Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the
life of Domingo Lopez Pina and extend sincere sympathy to the
members of his family: to his daughter, Debbie Pina; to his son and
daughter-in-law, Danny and Deborah Pina; to his grandchildren,
Jordan, Jacob, and Joshua; to his brother, Manuel Pina; and to all
who mourn the passing of this cherished man; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Domingo
Lopez Pina.
