R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Betty Richardson of Eldorado on October 13, 2003, at the age of 81, has deeply saddened this beloved woman's family and host of friends; and WHEREAS, Born on July 5, 1922, in Keystone, Indiana, Mrs. Richardson later moved with her family to Seminole, Oklahoma; during World War II, she went to work in Oklahoma City as a riveter, in response to her country's call for civilian support of the defense effort; and WHEREAS, She married Kennith Richardson in 1945, beginning an enduring union that was built on a solid foundation of mutual love, trust, and respect; the devoted matriarch of a close-knit family, Mrs. Richardson was blessed with two children and six grandchildren; and WHEREAS, This gracious woman was a dedicated homemaker and an accomplished seamstress and cook, and she took pleasure in providing her loved ones with the fruits of her labors; she created formal dresses for her daughter's special occasions, and in later years, she and her husband teamed up for baking and candy-making endeavors, such as putting together "care packages" of chocolate turtles and homemade jerky for their grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Betty Richardson was truly a blessing in the lives of countless people, and she will long be remembered for her generosity and her deep commitment to family and community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Betty Richardson and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her children and their spouses, Dan and Kristi Richardson and Gay and Charlie Adams; to her grandchildren, Nathan Richardson, Paul Richardson, Kasey Leah, Kylie MacLellan, Chip Adams, and Colt Adams; to her sister, Wilma Owen; to her brother, Bob Twibell; to her sister-in-law, Nell Twibell; and to all who mourn the passing of this cherished woman; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Betty Richardson.
