R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Robert F. Buckner of Austin
on March 12, 2004, at the age of 41, has brought a profound sense of
loss to the family and many friends of this beloved man; and
WHEREAS, Born on July 29, 1962, in Lovington, New Mexico, to
proud parents, Cecil F. and Elma Hernandez Buckner, he relocated to
West Texas with his family as a child and graduated from Ozona High
School with the Class of 1980; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Buckner earned a degree from Sul Ross State
University in Alpine before moving to Dallas for a time, and for the
past 12 years, he had called Austin home; a favorite among his
colleagues, he was employed with TEK Systems as a software engineer
at IBM, and he took great pride in his work; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his lifetime, Robert Buckner's engaging
personality, irrepressible smile, and ready laugh brought joy to a
wide circle of loved ones, and his kindness to others and zest for
life will long be remembered in the hearts of those fortunate enough
to have known him; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 78th Texas
Legislature, 4th Called Session, pay tribute to the life of Robert
F. Buckner and that deepest sympathy be extended to his parents,
Cecil F. and Elma Hernandez Buckner; to his sister, Sherri A. Goree;
to his brother, Kelly Buckner; to his godparents, Lionel and Concha
Ramos; to his uncles, aunt, nieces, and nephew; and to all who mourn
the passing of this fine Texan; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Robert F.
Buckner.
